Craft Night

My work hosted a Craft Night last night and Ella and I had a very nice time painting plates. I think I want to do it again on Friday when we have another session!

I made an error in not assisting Ella by putting a base coat on before she starting making her masterpiece. She started off with a lovely butterfly, then added a big green caterpillar, a fly, moth, and spider plus some blue sky, green grass and a sun. She named it her bug plate. I hope it fires nicely and turns out good. I really should have done a base coat... I'll post a picture when we get it back from the kiln.

Ella asked me what the colors are for Thanksgiving. You know, orange and black for Halloween, red and green for Christmas, pink/white/red for Valentines day... I suggested brown and orange were the colors. Ella wants to know why they don't make brown lights. Why don't they? Brown is one of my favorite colors! Does any one know the colors for thanksgiving and/or why they don't make brown lights?

Yes, orange and brown. Maybe splashes of red, yellow, white and black. I think the black symbolizes the pilgrims. Definitely the warm side of the color wheel.
We had an ice storm yesterday so Curtis and I used the cancelled sports/piano night to put up the xmas tree- we're now in the spirit! No school today. I hope a bunch of daycare kids stay home, too so I can get out more decorations. Peace. (D0 you want more Highlights or should I give them away to people here. I'm definitely saving some good chapter books for Ella). No weight loss to report and I've been a terrible exerciser. We're thinking that I need a 65" TV in front of my elliptical machine- do you think I would stay motivated?

You have an elliptical machine? Wow. I used one over at the Fitness Center a few months ago and thought it was too intense. Maybe I'll try it again if I can manage to lose weight insted of gaining back... I am having a tough time lately.
I say you can have the huge TV if you earn it: 30 days in a row of using the machine and it's yours! I guess you can have weekends off, but Mon-Fri for 6 weeks.

I've gotta go with the General - reds, browns, oranges, yellows - the colors of the fall harvest are what are associated with Thanksgiving. Isn't this time of year great?

If it means anything, I gotta say that having a TV & DVD/VCR yoked on the wall in front of my treadmill makes my daily workouts SO much easier! Just pop in a movie and go to it. Some mornings just thinking about finishing the movie I'd started the day before is enough for me to haul my butt out of bed at 4:30. Besides, I can rent all those great movies off the old-release $1 racks at the video store that Christopher doesn't want to see and watch them while I workout.

With all that being said, I'm sorry to report that this week I'm up +2. Grr. Damn that pumpkin pie! Damn that leftover Halloween candy! Damn those yummy chocolate chip cookies I just HAD to bake 'cause the chips were sitting in the cupboard gathering dust!

Damn my lack of willpower? There's a thought...

Some good news: I had my yearly physical (ugh) and a first-time blood screen last week and am glad to say I've got low cholesterol and have not yet picked up the hereditary adult-onset diabetes that has plagued my dad's side of the family for years. :)

Loved the pics; can't wait to do those sorts of craft with Claire!
